This is an inexpensive way to cool an attic. The motor is not the quietest and the metal is not the sturdiest, but for the money this is great. Thermostat works well, instructions are simple and easy to understand. Overall I'm very pleased. To get that 5th star it would have required just slightly better build quality. But I'm awfully particular.

This little fan is incredible. It was very easy to install although I already had the perfect structure for it as it was part of the building plan. I have two gable vents; one for intake and the other for this fan. I installed it as the picture shown here. It is very quiet; the sound is softer than the actual air conditioning. I did add PVC foam rubber insulation (I think used for doors or garage doors) between the studs and the plywood and again on the mounting ears -just in case- and made sure the rim of the fan did not touch the plywood; this is easly done because you can adjust the mounting ears. It took a couple of days going up to the attic to adjust the shutoff thermostat. I recomend you adjust the thermostat from the lowest temperature setting to the highest, and now it shuts off at around 11 pm. The ONLY issue I had was with the screws of the mounting ears. Once mounted they are very close to the blade. I should've listened to one of these reviewers who recomended replacing them with nuts and bolts. I bag of six nuts and bolts costs a couple of dollars and very worth it. I also added a shut off switch located as you walk up the attic. I HIGHLY recomend this as well!!
I'm getting my money back in just a couple of months! While my neighbors air conditioning runs all day in this brutal heat, mine doesnt!! I lowered the attic's temperature by 15 degrees and also reduced the dust. Very worth the money and cheaper than adding all those other insulating gadgets.

Received in quick-time. Had to do a bit of carpentry to get installed, but that was expected. Only glitch was one of the mounting screws was being hit by the fan and I just removed the screw and ground it down just a bit to shorten. Works perfect and does the job as I'd hoped. Fan is quiet and the thermostat works just the way I wanted. Oh, and great price too.
